The ladies are here!

Today was chicken day!!  We drove to Celina - about an hour north of us - to an old seminary/nursing home/farm - odd, and beautiful!!  I wish I'd gotten out of the car to take a picture, but we were too excited!  You can see it here on their website though.  they had a million kinds of chickens, but not all for sale - and we'd reserved 4 golden comets (aka Red Stars).  They're so pretty!  17 weeks old and they should start laying at 19-22 weeks.  We decided to go with pullets for our first chickens, instead of chicks - but maybe we'll get chicks another year!  We're already talking about converting one of the bays in the shed/barn into a coop.  If we do that, they'll be right out by the garden, which would be great for insect control!
